TITLE: Teacher

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans lessons using the Kentucky Academic to meet the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
- Plans lessons aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards that reflect knowledge of students, specific instructional outcomes and clear structures.
- Creates and maintains a classroom environment of respect and rapport.
- Prepares lesson plans based on course standards and KCAS as required by school principal and maintains the plans for three years.
- Prepares lessons with clear expectations and learning objectives and communicates these objectives to the students.
- Follows all school and district safety procedures. Included but not limited to door closed and locked, supervision of students, practice of safety drills, etc.
- Adheres to Professional Code of Ethics for certified school personnel.
- Follows and promotes all school rules and expectations and monitors student conduct.
- Develops a classroom management plan that reflects positive behavior supports (PBIS) and has established expectations and routines. Communicates a clear plan for classroom / school expectations and student conduct.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and performs duties prescribed by the principal and school board policies.
- Seeks out opportunities for professional development based on school goals, self-reflection of effectiveness measures and feedback from principal.
- Contacts the principal or the designated representative as soon as possible when the teacher must be absent from school.
- Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or the designated representative.
- Implements all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the school SBDM council and school board.
- Maintains a professional appearance as an example for students.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- The Board of Education delegates to the person holding this position the reasonable authority necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed for this position.
- Participates in the selection, adoption and inventory of textbooks.
- Fosters communication with families concerning student progress and instructional programs.
- Communicates students concerns to the principal and school counselor.
- Incorporates the use of technology in daily instruction.
- Promotes positive public relations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid State Teaching Certificate for Specific Subject Area and/or Grade Level
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary commensurate with the Russell Independent Schools Certified Salary Schedule.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
