PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these learning targets to students, as adopted by the local and state Board of Education. - Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, pertaining to teacher and students.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Promotes public relations for the school’s programs and activities.
- Becomes acquainted with parents; reports any unusual occurrence or event to the principal or the designated representative immediately.
- Participates in the selection, adoption and inventory of textbooks.
- Integrates available technology to develop, design, and deliver instruction that maximizes student learning experiences. (1.5)
- Plans formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and measure student growth toward learning targets. (1.2)
- Develops and communicates student friendly learning targets that are congruent with and aligned to national, state and local standards. (1.3)
- Designs and implements instructional plans that are data informed and address students diverse learning needs. (1.4)
Learning Climate
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establishes a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment where individual needs and risk taking are valued. ( 2.1)
- Communicates high expectations for all students. (2.2)
Leadership and Professionalism
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Continuously strives to improve professional competence and collaboration with colleagues and communities. (Instruction 3.3)
- Engages in professional and leadership activities that enhance personal growth, student learning and the professional environment of the school. (3.1)
- Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and performs duties prescribed by the principal and by School Board Policies.
- Contacts the principal or the designated representative as soon as possible when the teacher must be absent from school.
- Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or the designated representative.
- Implements all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the School SBDM Council and the School Board for the district.
- Maintains a professional appearance as an example for students.
- The Board of Education delegates to the person holding this position the reasonable authority necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed for this position.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Adheres to the professional code of conduct.
- Performs all duties as assigned
Student Performance
- Contributes to overall school success and the academic growth of all students, regardless of demographics (e.g. socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, disability, prior achievement). (4.1)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid State Teaching Certificate for Specific Subject Area and/or Grade Level
